De Sheds and Baths

It's no secret that Poodle crosses have become the latest craze, and it's easy to see why these pooches are so popular. However, these crossbreeds demand some serious grooming, which is where I come in with my doodle-cutting skills!

Each doodle is unique, and that means their coat type needs a custom approach. You can't just fluff and puff every dog the same way! But don't worry, I'm all about catering to their individuality. And hey, if you're a Poodle parent, I'm always up for a good grooming sesh with those curly cuties.

I love trying out new styles and working with you to see which style best suits your needs.

Terriers are such lovely dogs to groom, when they have been introduced to the grooming procedure early. However, if they havent been exposed to the salon, they can sometimes becomes slightly opinionated! I am happy to work with your terrier and get the look you require. Not everyone likes the 'I've just left the groomers' look, so I am happy to work with you to get the look you are after.

Saying that, I am also happy to talk through show cuts, breed standard cuts and all the cuts in between. Feel free to email me with what you require.

"My dog has short hair, he doesnt need grooming!"

If i had a pound for every time I am told this, I'd be sipping Cocktails in the Bahamas right now.

Smooth and short haired breeds still require grooming. It make not be in the form of a clip/snip but a good deshed can be just as important as any cut.

De shedding is basically a bath using deep shampoos and conditioners, a blast with a drier that removes the dead coat amd then brushing away the coat thats released. De sheds are very rewarding and I have been known to get bin bags full of hair out of dogs that you wouldn't have thought were hairy!

Working Dogs

Working dogs are amazing! I love them and I love to groom them too, which is great because I have so many on my books. However, many people who own gun dogs, sheepdogs, beating dogs and general farm dogs, all think they have to stay away from the groomers incase we wash the work ethic away or something. Crazy, right?

I was brought up with working gun dogs and the only bath our labs got was in the Alge-ridden pond they used to jump into each season, not overly good for their coat. So whilst I am not saying a gun dog should have a weekly bath and blow dry, it is best practice to let them see a groomer at least twice per season, once before and once after. This will make sure they're not loaded with dead hair, weighing them down, It will keep them comfortable in the house/kennel and it's also so they come out of the season smelling good and not carrying half a bramble bush around with them.

Spaniels should ideally be in often for a feet trim, regardless if they're working or not, as grass seeds are a nightmare and rife in hairy feet. Sheepdogs, which are mainly collies, can definitely benefit from regular de sheds, so they too aren't carrying around dead hair and harbouring a coat liable for bacterial infections. As can the terriers...!

So please don't think all your training will go down the plug hole if I give your dog a good MOT. It's only going to benefit them.

The Boutique

Alongside the dog grooming, there is a very small section of high end boutique products, including some natural treats. I will soon be stocking my very own shamppos and colognes. Please email me for more information.

The boutique is undergoing a bit of a overhaul and since the salon is getting bigger, the boutique has sadly reduced. However, the farm shop next door will be stocking canine items in the near future. The farm shop is open from Tuesday-Sunday 10-4pm. Please see their website for more details.
